812 MLK - Building on Faith 2007-08

Each year during the third week of September, Habitat for Humanity International joins with churches and other organizations around the world in celebrating Building on Faith Week.  Here in Montgomery County, we join this worldwide celebration by bringing area churches together to frame a Habitat house.

Habitat’s construction manager provides "wall kits" to participating churches.  Then, on September 23rd, each church assembles a wall segment in their parking lot.  This allows everyone in the congregation to participate in the construction process and to write a message or Bible verse for the future homeowner on the wall studs.  On Sepember 29th, volunteers from each church meet at the building site to join the individual wall segments together to frame the new home.

This year, the following area churches have joined the project and approximately 100 volunteers will help assemble the walls at the construction site. If your church would like to become part of the annual Building on Faith Project, please contact the Habitat office, and consider joining Habitat's Church Relations Committee to learn more about how your church can become involved.
